Traits of A Professional Bettor

I have just had a hectic weekend and could only place bets on the Saturday games. I had a few games on Sunday that looked like really good bets but since I never could look deeper into them, because a shortage of time, I didn't place the bets. That was actually a good test of my discipline. The teams in question was Man U, Deportivo, Betis and Lazio. Three of them should have won but since I never made a full analysis of them I don't regret for a minute not placing those bets.

This along with some other experiences has shown me that I have developed the required mindset and mental attributes that are needed to succeed at betting. The qualities I am talking about are discipline, patience and being emotionally indifferent to won and lost bets.

These qualities may seem basic but it isn't many people who can stay emotionally indifferent in a longer losing streak or have the discipline to only bet when a proper analysis is pointing to a certain result with a good price.

Also, not many have the patience to be diligent the entire year through rough and good times and really look at betting as an investment which doesn't produce instant wealth. These qualities need to be developed by experiencing the different situations several times.

I made only one bet during the weekend and it was Aston Villa -1.

Villa had an away game against an already demoted Derby whos only objective left for the season is to not end on the lowest point collection in Premier League history. This whilst Villa are still chasing a Euro spot. The fact that it is a road game makes little to no difference because of the big motivational differences and you can also question what kind of support Derby will recieve in this game.

Aston Villa is one of the strongest teams on set pieces and have scored around half their goals on corner, free kicks etc. and this will be extra beneficial in this game since Derby is quite weak in those situations. Derby is weak in defence in general and will have problems with Villa's wing play and set pieces.

Other than all that, Villa is a much stronger team than Derby and after the big loss to Man U. They looked good against Bolton and considering the motivation, they will be able to keep that momentum going.

The game ended Derby 0-6 Aston Villa. I did not see the game but after looking at reviews and stats from the game they seem to have dominated the event.
